Description: The common Privet is a thick, multi-stemmed shrub that was originally introduced from Europe. It is commonly used in North America for hedge plants. Small white flowers emerge in the spring, followed by black berries that persist into winter. The berries and foliage are toxic and non-edible. The species is listed as invasive in souther parts of the U.S.


Site Conditions: The species prefers moist, well drained soil, but also is tolerant to drier soils. It prefers full sun conditions but is tolerant to partial shade.
